In his role as a corporate Vice President, Alan Alper is responsible for much of Cognizant’s thought leadership, globally. This includes white papers, case studies, blogs, short-form content that appears in the Latest Thinking section of cognizant.com (and Digital Perspectives app), videos, podcasts, live-streaming video webinars and specialty publications, such as Cognizanti, the company’s flagship thought leadership journal.
Previously, Alan was the online editor of Managing Automation magazine and served as editorial director at Gomez, Inc., an internet performance monitoring/ benchmarking/advisory services firm based in Waltham, MA. Prior to this, he was news and features editor at Computerworld. He also was on the founding team at Computer Industry Daily, the information technology industry’s first online daily publication, launched by Ziff Davis under the tutelage of industry “gadfly” (now venture capitalist), Esther Dyson.
His freelance articles have appeared in Datacommunications, Datamation and Venture magazines, as well as The Improper Bostonian. Alan cut his teeth in the daily newspaper business at the Albany Times-Union and Saratogian, and served as news editor at The Wyckoff News, a weekly newspaper in Wyckoff, N.J.. After finishing college, Alan interned for Jack Anderson, the world-renowned columnist.

Manish Bahl is a Cognizant Associate Vice President who leads the company’s Center for the Future of Work in Asia-Pacific.
A respected speaker and thinker, Manish has guided many Fortune 500 companies into the future of their business with his thought-provoking research and advisory skills. Patricia (Trish) Birch is Senior Vice-President & Global Practice Leader, Healthcare Consulting, at Cognizant. In this role, she leads Cognizant’s Healthcare Consulting Practice, serving providers, payers, pharmacy benefit managers, public sector organizations and other companies serving the healthcare industry. She has years of hands-on experience managing and executing complex business and technology programs, and has served many of the largest organizations across the industry. She is a member of Cognizant’s healthcare leadership team.
Trish joined Cognizant in 2010 and has more than three decades of experience in operations and management consulting, including seven years as a C-level operations and information technology executive, 15 years as a consulting managing partner, and 10 years as a member of the board of trustees for a large healthcare system. She is also a published author and speaker on issues facing the industry.
In addition, Trish has worked internationally, serving clients in Europe and China, and led practices at other leading consultancies. Trish was named to the 2015 Women Leaders in Consulting list by Consulting Magazine and received the Excellence in Client Service award. She also was honored with the Cognizant CEO Leadership Award in 2017.

Robert Hoyle Brown is a Vice President in Cognizant’s Center for the Future of Work. Since joining Cognizant in 2014, he has specialized on the topics of robotics, automation and augmented reality and their impact on business processes. He has worked extensively with the Cognizant Digital Operations Practice as head of market strategy, and also with Cognizant’s Accelerator leadership to drive the development of its intelligent automation strategy, messaging and go-to-market outreach.
Prior to joining Cognizant, he was Managing Vice President of the Business and Applications Services team at Gartner, and as a research analyst, he was a recognized subject matter expert in BPO. He also held roles at Hewlett-Packard and G2 Research, a boutique outsourcing research firm in Silicon Valley. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and, prior to his graduation, attended the London School of Economics as a Hansard Scholar.

Peter Borden is Chief Digital Officer for Healthcare at Cognizant, responsible for strategy, innovation, strategic partnerships and special programs across Cognizant’s healthcare business.
For the past 24 years, Peter has helped healthcare organizations realize the promise of technology as a means to deliver better health and business outcomes. Bret Greenstein is SVP and Global Markets Head of AI & Analytics at Cognizant, focusing on technology and business strategy, go-to-market and innovation helping clients realize their potential through digital transformation.
Prior to Cognizant, Bret led IBM Watson’s Internet of Things offerings, establishing new IoT products and services for the Industrial Internet of Things. Babak Hodjat is Vice President of Evolutionary AI at Cognizant, and former co-founder and CEO of Sentient. He is responsible for the core technology behind the world’s largest distributed artificial intelligence system.
Babak was also the founder of the world's first AI-driven hedge fund, Sentient Investment Management. He is a serial entrepreneur, having started a number of Silicon Valley companies as main inventor and technologist.
Prior to co-founding Sentient, Babak was senior director of engineering at Sybase iAnywhere, where he led mobile solutions engineering. He was also co-founder, CTO and board member of Dejima Inc. Babak is the primary inventor of Dejima’s patented, agent-oriented technology applied to intelligent interfaces for mobile and enterprise computing – the technology behind Apple’s Siri.
A published scholar in the fields of artificial life, agent-oriented software engineering and distributed artificial intelligence, Babak has 31 granted or pending patents to his name. He is an expert in numerous fields of AI, including natural language processing, machine learning, genetic algorithms and distributed AI and has founded multiple companies in these areas.

Dr. Michael J. Manyak, MD, FACS, is an author, urologist and corporate medical executive. He is Global Medical Affairs Executive Director for the GlaxoSmithKline urology franchise and is the Chief Medical Advisor for Crisis Response for multiple Fortune 500 companies, including Cognizant, and for the Washington (DC) Board of Trade.

Pari has been Cognizant’s Americas leader for Supply Chain & Manufacturing in Life Sciences since 2014 and is responsible for shaping and delivering digital solutions within the operations function across pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. In this role, he advised senior executives of traditional biopharmaceutical and medical device companies on the transformations occurring within healthcare. He also advised senior executives at non-traditional companies, such as telecommunications, technology and consumer products companies that sought to enter and transform access and adherence to care and care outcomes. He was the lead author or co-author of numerous articles that defined the transformation of healthcare and its implications to the healthcare industry. He is also a frequent speaker at industry events in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Before joining PwC/Strategy&, Brian served as an executive for two healthcare firms, including one early-stage company where he quadrupled revenues in three years, leading to a sale of the company returning 10x invested capital. Prior to his management roles, Brian spent a decade as an investor, co-founding two top-decile performing private equity funds. Previous to his business ventures, he served as a speechwriter to a former two-term Governor of Indiana.
